Six koi drift toward each other through hazy teal water, coming in from every side of the page. Their soft white and silver bodies are brushed with red and rust, and little flecks of orange float around them like leaves.
Everything here is smoky and soft-edged, as if you're looking down into a pond on a misty Hill Country morning in Wimberley, where I live and paint. It's a quiet, moody piece that rewards a second look.
